Best Veggie Christmas Wreath for Christmas Party
Many of us serve a simple vegetable platter at the holidays, but it doesn’t always get quite the attention we hope for. The celery sticks and peppers end up looking dry, wilted, and forgotten at the end of the party. Not this year!
This Christmas wreath vegetable platter is a colorful and exciting way to serve vegetables at your next holiday party. Who will be able to resist the little carrot stars and broccoli bites? Plus, it’s seriously easy to assemble!
Why We Love This Easy Christmas Vegetable Wreath
- Quick & easy: Although it takes a few minutes to assemble the red bow and arrange everything just so, this is really a quick project! It’s just about layering each component in a specific way, but the prep work of peeling and slicing is quite quick.
- Inexpensive option: This festive appetizer is actually a great option for a budget! You’ll be using English cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower, and cherry tomatoes as the bulk of the design, which are typically inexpensive. You can also adjust the vegetables to what’s on sale at the store, and you may even have a few of these ingredients already waiting for you in your crisper drawer!
- Festive and healthy appetizer: The bold red and green colors are so inviting, and the little red bow takes the whole display over the top! It’s a deliciously healthy option for any holiday gatherings.
Ingredient Notes
- English cucumber: Slice the cucumber into thin slices.
- Broccoli & cauliflower: Look for broccoli and cauliflower that are fresh without any yellow or brown spots. Break these into small florets.
- Cherry tomatoes: Rinse and dry the tomatoes before serving. Grape tomatoes are a good alternative.
- Carrot: Slice thin rounds, then use the star cutter to create the star shape. You can use yellow bell peppers too.
- Mozzarella cheese: Trim a mozzarella slice into star shapes as well.
- Red bell pepper: Follow the instructions below to create the red bow.
How to Make a Christmas Veggie Tray – Step-by-Step Instructions
Although there are many different designs you can make with raw vegetables, this Christmas veggie tray wreath is always a crowd pleaser! It’s made by arranging a mixture of broccoli, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumbers around a round plate and then garnishing with mozzarella and carrot stars and a red bow made from red peppers.
It’s a beautiful shape that holds your favorite dip in the center of the platter just perfectly! Here’s how to assemble it:
- Get out a large circular plate or veggie platter. Arrange the cucumber slices in two rows in a circular pattern so that they’re slightly overlapping.
- At the 10 o’clock position, create a line on a diagonal with some cauliflower florets. Leave a 2-inch gap and create a line with some broccoli florets. Fill in the gap between the cauliflower and broccoli with some cherry tomatoes. Repeat this same pattern at the 2 o’clock position, 4 o’clock position and 8 o’clock position. You should have four evenly spaced sections of cauliflower, cherry tomatoes and broccoli.
- Next, using a mini star-shaped cookie cutter, cut mini stars out of the carrot slices. Place the carrot stars on top of each section of tomatoes. I used two carrot stars for each group of tomatoes, but you can add more if you wish.
- Next, cut out 3 stars from the cheese slices. Place each one at the 9 o’clock position, 12 o’clock position and 3 o’clock position.
- Cut the red bell pepper into the shape of a bow, as pictured. Place the bow at the 6 o’clock position on the veggie wreath.
- Place a bowl in the center of the wreath if you’re using a large plate. Add your preferred dip to the center of the wreath and serve, or store in the fridge for later.

Recipe Tips:
- When cutting the broccoli and cauliflower, it’s best to cut them into small florets. You may need to trim the stems so that the florets sit more flat on the cucumber slices. This will help hold the tomatoes into each section.
- I used a 1-inch star cookie cutter to cut the stars from the carrot slices, and a 2-inch star cookie cutter for the cheese. You can find both sizes in this set of cookie cutters!
- I used a veggie tray platter that was 14 inches in diameter for this veggie wreath and it already had a dip bowl in the center, but you can also use a large circular plate or platter. Place an upside down bowl in the center of the plate as a guide to help create the shape of a wreath out of the vegetables.
- You may need to adjust the amount of vegetables used depending on the size of your platter. You can also continue to add to it as well.
Recipe FAQs
We used ranch dressing, but it would also taste great with hummus, like this spicy roasted garlic hummus, healthy tzatziki or high protein hummus recipe! You can use any type of veggie dip that you prefer.
Yes, you can assemble this Christmas wreath veggie platter the day before! Cover the whole display with plastic wrap, then place it in the fridge. The whole veggies will stay fresh for quite a while, but the cucumber slices might look a little softer after storing them in the fridge for more than a day. Another option is to prepare all of the vegetables in advance, except the cucumbers, and then assemble the veggie wreath the day of.
Storage Guidelines
Store this vegetable Christmas wreath appetizer in the fridge before serving. Cut vegetables should only sit out at room temperature for 2 hours before being disposed of. One great workaround is to set the entire veggie tray on a tray of ice to keep everything nice and cold.
Store any uneaten vegetables in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 days.
