What is a Mocktail?
A mocktail is an alcohol-free cocktail. They’re not quite a soda and not quite juice. Instead, you’re replicating the flavor experience you get from a summery cocktail…but without the booze. Light, refreshing, and easy!
Why We Love this Strawberry Basil Mocktail
- Uses just a few simple ingredients
- Ready in about 10 minutes
- Naturally low in sugar – no simple syrup required
- Pretty pink option for a baby shower, bridal shower, Mother’s Day and more
- Packed with delicious strawberry-lime flavor
Ingredient Notes

- Strawberries: Strawberries are packed with vitamins, fiber and antioxidants and add a wonderful flavor, sweetness and color. Fresh is best, but frozen berries will work in a pinch.
- Fresh lime Juice: Juice fresh limes (and lots of juice) for the very best flavor.
- Sweetener: I use honey, which adds a floral note. Maple syrup would also work but has a deeper, richer flavor. Sub in stevia for a lower sugar option.
- Carbonated water: Sparkling water adds a nice fizz to this drink. I typically use club soda or Perrier. You could also use tonic water, which would be a great flavor addition.
- Garnishes: This beverage is finished with extra strawberry slices and basil leaves. Not only do they look pretty, but they add a great aroma before you take your first sip. You could also garnish with other fresh berries or mint to switch up the flavors.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Puree one cup of strawberries with the lime juice and honey in a regular blender or mini blender.

- In a large pitcher, combine the Perrier water and strawberry mixture and mix very well to incorporate all the flavors.

- Add fresh basil leaves and the remaining half cup of sliced strawberries and place in fridge for at least 20 minutes to allow flavors to combine.

- When ready to serve, add desired number of ice cubes to each glass.
- Give the mixture another good stir. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired. Serve cold in a large glass with lime slices, if desired.

Tips for the Best Strawberry Mocktails
- Sweeten to taste: I used about 3-4 tablespoons of honey, but you can sub in your desired sweetener. Start with three tablespoons, taste the drink and then add more if needed.
- Allow drink to sit: I highly recommend letting this spritzer sit in the fridge for about half an hour to allow the flavors to intensify before serving.
- If you do allow it to sit, add the ice cubes to each individual glass right before serving to prevent the mixture from becoming too diluted. I also recommend giving it a really good stir before drinking, since the honey tends to drift to the bottom of the jug.
- To make a strawberry slushy: Use frozen strawberries instead of fresh and blend!
- Get more juice from your limes: Roll the limes before cutting to get more juice, or microwave briefly to soften.

Storage Guidelines
Keep in the fridge for up to 2 days. If storing longer than that, you may wish to add the fresh strawberries and basil just before serving.
If you plan on making this beverage really far in advance, you may want to add half of the fizzy water, and then top it up before serving so that it’s still bubbly when you serve it.
Serving Suggestions
This strawberry mocktail spritzer is perfect served along with a light Spring or Summer meal or for those parties and showers! I like to pair it with a fruit salad, like this refreshing Blueberry Walnut Salad or my Grilled Chicken Strawberry Salad.
Really, it can be enjoyed with anything, though. Barbecue, summer salads, quiche, and more. It’s the perfect drink!
Recipe Variations
- Add fruit: Blend the strawberries with watermelon, peach or mango.
- Use different fresh herbs: Fresh mint leaves, rosemary or thyme are a great substitute for basil.
- Use fresh lemon juice: Instead of lime, use lemon juice or some lemonade for a strawberry lemonade mocktail.
- Change the seltzer water: Consider using lime seltzer or playing around with other flavored seltzer waters! Strawberry grapefruit would be quite nice too.
- Try a different liquid: If you don’t mind consuming a little extra sugar, use a ginger beer for a really crisp, refreshing drink.

Healthy Strawberry Mocktail Spritzer {Non-Alcoholic}
Video
Ingredients
- 1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
- Juice of half a lime
- 3-4 tablespoons honey (or more to taste)
- 4 cups Perrier water, or other unsweetened carbonated water
- Ice cubes
For garnish
- 1/2 cup sliced fresh strawberries
- 1 handful fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Puree one cup of strawberries with the lime juice and honey in a blender or magic bullet.
- In a large pitcher, combine the Perrier water and strawberry mixture and mix very well to incorporate all of the flavours.
- Add the remaining half cup of sliced strawberries and fresh basil leaves and place in the fridge for at least 20 minutes to allow flavours to combine.
- When ready to serve, add desired number of ice cubes to each glass.
- Give the mixture another good stir. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired. Serve cold. You may wish to garnish each individual glass with extra strawberries and basil when serving.
Notes
- For the sweetener: I used about 3-4 tbsp of honey, but you can sub in your desired sweetener. Stevia can also be used if you wish to reduce the amount of added sugar. If you opt for honey or another liquid sweetener, I recommend starting with three tablespoons, tasting the drink and then adding more if desired to suit your personal taste preferences.
- Allow drink to sit: I highly recommend letting this spritzer sit in the fridge for about half an hour to allow the flavours to intensify before serving.
- If you do allow it to sit, add the ice cubes to each individual glass right before serving to prevent the mixture from becoming too diluted. I also recommend giving it a really good stir before drinking, since the honey tends to drift to the bottom of the jug.
- To make a boozy strawberry slushy: Use frozen strawberries instead of fresh and add desired alcohol.
- To get more juice out of your limes: Roll and press the limes on a hard surface prior to slicing in half. This can help soften the flesh and make it easier to release the juices when you squeeze the limes. If the limes are really hard, you can also microwave them for 15 seconds to soften the rind and flesh, making them easier to juice.
