Healthy Copycat Chick-Fil-A Sauce Recipe
Dipping sauces are my favorite way to make healthy eating more fun and exciting! My family loves the sweet and smoky flavor of the Chick-Fil-A sauce, but I’m not a huge fan of the highly processed ingredients in the fast food classic.
Fortunately, this DIY healthy Chick-Fil-A sauce is lower in fat, sugar, and overall calories compared to the original. It only uses healthy ingredients you can feel good about serving to your family.
The best part is, this homemade dipping sauce tastes just like the real deal and is the perfect addition to your favorite chicken nuggets, French fries, chicken sandwiches, and more!
Why We Love This Recipe

- Skips the soybean oil, corn syrup, stabilizers, and preservatives in the real thing
- Delicious homemade sauce with wholesome ingredients
- Healthier version with less fat and sugar
- Sweet, smoky, and creamy sauce perfect for dipping
Ingredient Notes
- Greek yogurt: By using this as the main ingredient, the sauce will be much lower in fat yet still super creamy.
- BBQ sauce: To make this homemade version taste more like the original, I recommend using your favorite smoky barbecue sauce, not a sugar-free version. You can also make your own BBQ sauce to control the quality of the ingredients.
- Mayonnaise: Either use homemade mayo or grab your favorite brand from the store.
- Yellow mustard: For a tangy flavor and pop of color.
- Lemon juice: This adds a bright flavor that keeps the sauce from being too rich. Apple cider vinegar is a good alternative.
- Seasonings: Use a mixture of smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt for a smoky, savory flavor.
- Honey: For just enough sweetness.
How to Make Chick Fil A Sauce

Recipe FAQs
This delicious sauce is very similar to campfire sauce – the perfect blend of mayo and barbecue sauce. It’s creamy with just enough sweetness, a savory flavor from the spices, and a brightness from the mustard and lemon juice. It’s the ideal mixture for dipping waffle fries or topping your burger!
Yes, this sauce benefits from resting. Chill for at least one hour, ideally overnight (up to 24 hours), to allow the flavors to mingle.
Use your favorite store-bought or homemade regular tomato-based BBQ sauce. Avoid “sweet and spicy” or “sugar-free” varieties, which will significantly alter the flavor profile. Regular BBQ sauce more closely matches the original sauce flavor and is already very sweet, so add honey at the end, one teaspoon at a time, according to taste.
Storage Guidelines
Store leftover sauce in an airtight container for 4-5 days.
