Beautiful living room decor inspiration and tips for adding some Spring time vibes to your household!
Hello my friends! It’s hard to believe that Spring is just around the corner. After spending the last few months cooped up in the house with a newborn, I’m definitely ready for some sunshine and warmer weather. Baby Leo and I NEED to get out of this house! For those of you who don’t know, I had my first baby, Leo, just before Christmas on December 20th. My husband Matt and I knew that the month of December would be pretty chaotic prepping for a baby so we put up all the Christmas decorations at the end of November.
But actually taking the Christmas decorations down? That’s a whole different story. This year, the Christmas decorations stayed up until March until I finally said enough is enough. I can’t look at these decorations anymore!
I don’t know if it’s just me, but do you ever feel like that period between January and May it’s difficult to know how to decorate? Do I keep up the snowmen and Christmas ornaments or switch to flowers and butterflies. The struggle is real.
This year, after staring at the same decorations for three months, I decided it was time for a change.
Here are three strategies that I used when adding a little Spring flair!

Keep it Fresh and Simple
They don’t call it Spring cleaning for no reason. As much as I love Christmas, I always find that the holidays involve a lot more clutter with the Christmas tree, presents, garlands, stockings, snowmen and ornaments. Don’t get me wrong, it’s all great for getting in the holiday spirit, but by the time March rolls around, I’m looking for more of a fresh and simple look.
One of my favourite ways to brighten up the house and enhance my overall mood after a long and dreary winter is with flowers. In my opinion, flowers are the solution to everything. Although I’d love to have fresh flowers in the house all the time, it really isn’t realistic since they tend to die within a week, and that can get a little pricey, so instead I opt for fake flowers, like these pink roses.
A lot of the fake flowers these days look so realistic, so it’s a great way to freshen up the house on a budget. For the mantel, I found six small silver vases for under $30 at Home Sense and some pink and white rose bouquets from Michaels. I’m a huge fan of decorating using flowers and candles (SO gorgeous!!!), so I paired the flowers on the mantel with some silver lanterns from Pier 1 imports. It’s simple but gives the room such a fresh look!
Incorporate Subtle Easter Accessories
On my mission to decorate for Spring, I also wanted to incorporate some subtle Easter accessories, since Easter is just around the corner! The problem is, I often find that a lot of the Easter decorations can look a little corny (Hello Easter Bunny!), which is fine if you’re into that, but I prefer to just add a few subtle decorations that suggest that Easter is near.
For instance, I found this cute bunny at Pier 1 imports and when I looked at it, it just made me happy. Happy is always a good sign, so in my basket it went. Sure enough, it went perfectly with the white tray on the coffee table along with some tall blush candles in crystal votives from Michaels.
I also found some pastel Easter Eggs and put them in an adorable bunny mug on the side table, which once again is subtle and doesn’t scream EASTER IS HERE! And how pretty is this floral “Hello Spring” printable from Etsy?!
LOVE it!!
Using printables is a great way to incorporate a seasonal theme on a budget. I just use the same frame all year round and switch the printables as the seasons change. It totally changes the look and feel of the room! And how cute is that bunny on the couch?! Sorry… he’s not for sale :)
Look for Spring Sales
A final tip I have is to wait for the sales. It’s so worth it for the savings! I went out shopping for Spring decor a few weeks before Easter and EVERYTHING was on sale.
BONUS!!!
Going shopping at the very beginning or end of the season is a great time to find some deals. The majority of the decorations I found were 40-50% off, so when shopping for seasonal decor, timing is so important!
So just remember — when decorating for Spring, it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg, nor does it have to look super corny. Just keep it clean and simple, incorporate a few subtle decorations to add some Easter vibes and keep on the lookout for those sales! Happy decorating!
