Beautiful bright & gender-neutral baby nursery — perfect for a baby boy or girl!
I know that it’s been a while and I’m so sorry I’ve been MIA for a little while. I got really busy with work and was completely exhausted during my recent pregnancy. Needless to say, I didn’t really get around to blogging too much. Now that I’m on maternity leave and things have settled down a bit with the whole newborn phase, I’m so excited to finally share Leo’s nursery makeover and get back into blogging again! I had Leo a little over 2 months ago and up until then, the nursery had been a work in progress.
All along, my vision was to make it a really bright, neutral and warm room. Even though I knew we were having a boy ahead of time, I didn’t want anything too themed, masculine or colour specific. The creams and whites had always appealed to me, so I knew that I wanted a soft cream colour on the wall and all white furniture. We get beautiful sunshine in that room so I knew the creams and whites would work well.
My mom had kept the rocking chair from when I was little, so the chair pictured was actually the chair that I was rocked in as a baby, which is pretty cool. We just had to get the cushions re-covered so I managed to hunt down the very talented Miss Polly Piece Goods on Etsy who was able to help us out.
And that log side table is one of my absolute favourite features in the room! I spotted it at a local store that has gorgeous home décor. It was love at first sight. I couldn’t stop thinking about it for months so finally I went back and bought it. I’m so glad I did because it adds so much character to the room, don’t you think??
I also found the ‘Sweet Dreams’ sign on Etsy. Isn’t it gorgeous?! I wanted to add a slight pop of colour, but still keep it pretty neutral, so I purchased some dusty miller greenery at Home Sense and attached it to the sign with fishing line.
And the shelves? Oh the shelves. Finding the right shelves was an adventure in itself. I went on a hunt for shelves at some of the stores in my area. The first set that I bought, I absolutely loved, but unfortunately they broke as soon as we tried hanging them on the wall. My husband wasn’t too impressed, so I knew those were a no go.
Next, I ordered some shelves from Pottery Barn that I really liked, but they ended up being too long for the room, so I’ll use those somewhere else in the house. Finally, we found the perfect white floating shelves from Pottery Barn. They fit perfectly in the room and were exactly what I envisioned!
The sign on the door was a gift from the very talented Bre Creative. She makes absolutely gorgeous rustic wooden signs and it’s just what we needed to complete the room! I attached the sign to the door using some silver satin ribbon.
All in all, I’m so happy with how the room turned out and I think baby Leo, Matt and I all agree, it’s one of our favourite rooms in the house!
